Dear Freedom to Marry E-Activist,
The NH House of Representatives and Senate created a Marriage Commission during the last legislative session. The Commission is charged with studying ‘same-sex marriage and all its legal equivalents' and the impact on existing state law. It will report its findings to the legislature in December of this year. The commission has decided that one of the ways it will gather information and determine of the will of NH citizens is to hold four public hearings around the state.
Attend the public hearing in Littleton on Tuesday, May 31st from 6:30-9:30PM at the Opera House. Encourage family and friends in the area to attend the hearing. Tell the Commission the State of NH needs to stop its discriminate against our families.
It is critically important that the supporters of marriage equality attend this public hearing in Littleton. The opposition will. Supporters of marriage equality need to turn out for the hearing and give testimony about our views. The Opera House is at the intersection of Route 302 and 116. Route 302 travels through the center of town. Take Exit 41 off Route 93 to the right; continue on this road, which it Route 302, across the Ammonoosuc River and up a slight incline about 1/2 mile. The Opera House is on the right after the river, where it intersects with Route 116 and just before the stoplight.
NH Freedom to Marry will be holding training on testifying at the public hearing. On May 26 at 6:30pm. The training will be held at Salyards Museum, 120 Main St. (Rte. 16), Conway Village; previously, the Saint Charles Church. It's Conway village NOT North Conway village. Going north on Rte 16, it is approx. 1/4-mile northeast of Kennett High School on the north side of the road; it's almost directly across from the new firehouse. Coming south on Rte. 16, Salyards is about 1/4 mile further south from the stoplight at the intersection of Route 153.
The other hearings will be in Portsmouth, Nashua and Keene. Dates to
be determined.
Thanks for working for our families.
